In addition to the work-life balance (WLB), the working form of blended working (BW) is currently mainly used in large companies, also called work-life blending in analogy to WLB. The clear demarcation between work and leisure is abolished and enables a smooth transition between the two areas of life. But what do companies hope for with this new form of work and what opportunities are generated for employees? And what are the risks associated with the delimitation of work boundaries?
The Delimitation of Work
In the context of the work process, the word “blending” means blurring the transitions between work and leisure time. The spatial, temporal and social boundaries are abolished so that a clear demarcation is no longer visible.
What is still strictly required in the work-life balance is more of an obstacle in blended working. The freedom and flexibility in professional and private life is only given if both areas operate together. When both content and emotions merge into one another, so that a symbiosis is almost created. The advantages of the professional competencies affect the private and bring about a mental balance.
